Tiki Torch Safety Tips
- Keep your wick length extended from the torch no longer than ¼” to ½”, cut straight across. A longer wick will generate more smoke and waste fuel.
- Never overfill a tiki torch with oil. Overfilling may cause the torch to tip over. If fuel spills over while filling your torch, allow ample time for fuel evaporate before lighting the torch.
- Establish a safety zone of three feet around tiki torches for children, as you would a fireplace or wood stove.
- Keep an ABC fire extinguisher in close proximity to the area where you are using tiki torches.
- Never leave a lit tiki torch unattended for an extended length of time.
- Use a snuffer to extinguish a tiki torch, NOT water. Water will spread the tiki oil without extinguishing the flame.
- Make sure there are no tree limbs or overhangs near your tiki torches.
- Remove any other objects near the flame. Wind gusts can bend the flame and may ignite flammable objects
- Never move a lit tiki torch. Extinguish the torch and give it time to cool before relocating.
- Be sure to set tiki torches away from any areas of activity so they will not be knocked over or where people can accidentally run into them.
- Only use fuel made for tiki torches.
- Store tiki torch oil in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location a good distance away from the open flame on the torches.
- Tiki torch fuel is highly flammable. Clean up spills promptly.

My gas torch is not lighting up properly, what can I do?
First thing to try would be cleaning it. To clean it, please take the head apart. The cap might have corroded itself solid, but once you remove it, you will see a brass head with 5 or six small drilled holes to let the gas out. Clean those small holes so the flow of gas can work again. If the issue is not fixed, please contact us.
Fire is coming out of the valve of my gas torch! What do I do?
Turn off the torch immediately! Flame coming from the valve below the torch head is because the valve needs to be tightened up. In order to set up your torch or perform any type of service to it, the valve handle has to be removed from the head, that is because the knob goes through the collar. So to unscrew the internal parts from the head, the valve handle must be removed and then reinstalled before use. There is a small brass nut on the valve knob where it attaches and tightens into the valve body. If there is a leak around it, it should be tightened until the leak stops prior to attempting to light. Remember, you should ALWAYS check for leaks prior to ignition with leak detector or soapy water. If there is still a leak after that contact us and we will help you fix this.
